The Peak 2026 is a hand-held magnifier designed for the insertion of microfiches or films. This Peak hand magnifier can also be used to watch microfilms or X-ray film.

The lens system of the different magnifications also compensates for the spherical aberration (distortion-free image) when the magnifications are high (15x or 20x) and reproduces the image without chromatic aberration (achromatic). In order to achieve this, the lens system was designed differently depending on the magnification:

• Magnifier 8x: lenses in 2 groups with 3 elements
• Magnifiers 15x and 20x: a combination of 4 perfectly corrected lenses. Two of them are made out of a brand new type of optical glass. Furthermore, all of the six air-glass interfaces are multi-coated, in order to avoid internal reflections.

The opening for the insertion of the film was designed so that the film is not damaged when inserted carefully. By combining a clear lens and a light-permeable window in the foot, the films can be watched without needing additional illumination.

Magnifier 8x:

The transparent acrylic base have a 30mm long photomechanically engraved scale with 1mm scaling. It does not impair the visual field, so that the magnifier can fully serve its purpose.
